New Year, New Me

Bid 2011 adieu.
Say hello to 2012!
Im starting my new running year by running a half-marathon. Something new, something Ive never done before.

This year Ill be training harder, ill be running further, faster and hopefully wiser. I also plan to work on my core and to start my swimming training/lessons and hopefully join my 1st duathlon within 2012.

Christmas, My Way!

And just like that, Christmas 2011 is over.
The day might be done, but the spirit lives on til January. Thats how Pinoys celebrate Christmas.

But, let me tell you how one certain Pinoy spends Christmas. Well, obviously, that "One Pinoy" is me...who else?!

My christmas season usually starts around the latter part of november. Where halloween and All Souls Day is done and kids are on holiday vacation. When people, establishments, malls are putting up their decorations, suddenly the streets are beaming with christmas lights and the only songs you hear are for Christmas. Come 1st week of December, my wife, together with our kids, assemble our Xmas Tree (yep, thats how we do it here in the PI, due to lack of Pine Trees in Baguio, we all have to make do with artificial trees). Its also a treat to see parols lighting up the night and people walking on their way to attend simbang gabi. We dont buy gifts till Im on vacation from work, and thats usually on the 20th. From this day on the shopping frenzy begins, the mad rush for gifts starts, the mind-bending process of coming-up-with-a-gift is inevitable. I do it for the heck of it, but its the part I hate the most. I mean dont get me wrong, I love giving gifts and all, but the whole process sucks. But after buying and wrapping all your gifts, you send them, give em, hand em, hoping that they'll like it. And then, 24 comes and everybody opens their gifts. Seeing the smiles on their faces after they open their gifts gets me on a natural high. The thought of picking the right gift for a certain person makes me happy and satisfied. The highlight of the Christmas season for me is the misa de gallo every 24th of Dec. It is the pinnacle of the season. The coolness of the weather, the warm smiles of families around, the twinkling of the Xmas lights and parols, and most especially the Christmas spirit, the reason for all of these celebration can be felt all around and that is the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

So...from my heart to yours, I greet you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Its Official!

Results are in,
I finished my 10km run in 1hr 6mins and 43sec.
Damn! I thought I ran faster than that.
But considering the fact that I finsihed265th out of 1155 runners,
I believe thats already somehing to be happy about.
Right?
Oh man...
I think I've reached my plateau.

Oh well, I think its about time to shift into high gear and run a half-marathon.
Yep. Run the big, bad 21km monster route.
Just thinking about it makes me giddy!
But for now I will have to train and get my body ready for that.
Train.
Run.
Have fun.
Happy trails!

Shock and Awe

Ha!

Just made an embarassing discovery regarding my blog title (blah! Blah! Blogs!). As I was battling my boredom in the office, I tried googling my blog just to see if my name would appear. 'lo and behold as I pressed enter, there were thousands using the same name, same idea or the same thought.

Thus, I, refusing to be one of the many, would have to change my blog title. As soon as I think of one...suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

My Sentiments

I've been forcing myself to write something but I cant think of any. Im lost for words, no, ideas.

Haaay, ideas....

Dont you hate it when you're forced to come up with ideas? I do.

I dont work that way.
My brain dont work that way.

I prefer coming up with "crunch time ideas". You know, the ones that pops out of your head just in the nick of time, just when you thought that you wont be able to make it, suddenly, somehow, something comes out of your head, something thats un-planned, out-of-the-ordinary, un-organized and yet somehow its still better than the ones well-thought of.

Hmmm....strange and unfair as it may seem but it happens most of the time...

My 1st QC International Marathon

Just posting my 1st official run pic. After 2 years of joining runs I finally have a pic! Havent got the official results yet but I think Ill be having a new 10k PR. Ran side by side with my running buddy Jb. The route was simple, straight and fun. Not too many hydration booths though. Their giveaways also sucked! Weather was perfect, cloudy and windy. Next up is the Condura Skyway Half-Marathon this February!
